pictures

OK, here are two pictures of some of the bamboo I carved. the one on the left is the nambis style (this is another style where it stays green and you die it. I sent the white one I did to someone in the States) the other is the highlands style. It is hard to take a picture of round bamboo so sorry.

Wow, those are massively cool. Are those sold to tourists and such or can anyone get one?

there really aren't any tourists here to speak of-especially in the highlands. these are used as kumban containers (see buai post). there typically is an "ai" or lid also made of bamboo. anyone willing to drop 5 kina can buy one at the market...

Thanks for sharing your PNG experiences. Beautiful carving! Sounds like you've all settled in well. There's about 6-10 inches of snow in Boone. MJ will be traveling tomorrow (Tues)for the holidays. Will be happy to see him home safely.
